ever wonder if easy off oven cleaner actually works on wood?
i tried it on this old cubby shelf i found at an estate sale and let’s just say… game changer.
here’s how i did it
step 1: dust away any debris or buildup.
step 2: put on gloves (and any protection you need — this stuff is strong!). i always work outside in my backyard so it’s well ventilated.
step 3: spray the easy off oven cleaner evenly on the wood and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
step 4: grab your dawn soap, a bucket of water, and a scrub brush — then start washing away
the old stain. rinse everything off with a hose.
step 5: let the wood air dry in the sun for about 10–15 minutes (or longer depending on the weather).
step 6: sand the surface with 120-grit sandpaper to soften and smooth the finish — chef’s kiss!
you can reapply the easy off as many times as you need to get your desired look or lift more of the stain.
sometimes the best flips start with a little cleaning magic
